Curved stairlifts use a "Rack & Pinion" drive! Hardened steel rack/teeth are welded
to the tubular curved rail. The stairlift gearbox is coupled to a hardened steel pinion "cog" The pinion sits in mesh with the steel rack and when the motor is driven the teeth of the pinion drive the unit up or down

Curved stairlifts should only be produced and installed by curved rail specialists. Do not waste your time and money trying to buy a second hand stairlift with the intention
of installing it yourself. If you want to reduce the costs of buying a curved stairlift then you should try and find a reputable stairlift supplier that deals in reconditioned curved stairlifts

Due to bespoke design, curved stairlifts prices are extremely high! New curved stairlifts have a starting price range £3000-5000. Buying reconditioned or recycled curved stairlifts should reduce the costs by half
