Beware
of Cheaters & Scammers
One of our free advertisers has made us aware of a Scam! The Scammer
will contact you and claim he is interested in buying / purchasing
your stairlift. He / She will say they want to export the stairlift
abroad to another country etc..
Over a period of email correspondences they will
ask you to send a cheque/check for the import/export of the stairlift
plus add additional shipping payments and claim they will reimburse
your payment / money on receipt of the stairlift
Imports / Exports of stairlifts is not viable for
anyone! Not even large "Sole Traders" or "legitimate
companies" unless they are moving large volumes of stock.
Stairlift Trader is not aware of any person or company that would
export used second hand stairlifts to another country. If you
receive such a request please throw the email in the bin and contact
us immediately
These people are low life scum preying on people
when they are most vulnerable and in many cases still in bereavement.
Though the scam is very crude and badly implemented. We feel it
only right to bring this to your attention

Stairlift Scam

2)why you want to sell it
3)Exact and final price.
4)Send picture if available
5)Let me know the pickup arrangement though i've a reliable shipper

Hello James,
Thank you for your enquiry, the background to this
stairlift is as follows:
We purchased the stairlift direct from Acorn and
it was an ex demonstration
unit from their showroom, it had never been installed at anyone's
house and
looked brand new. Acorn checked it thoroughly before installation
and then
they installed it at my Mother-in-Law's house on 7th May 2008
and we were
given a 12 month warranty agreement.
Sadly my Mother-in-Law died on 7th June so you can
see that it was only used
for a month and only one trip up and one trip down per day. My
Mother-in-Law
by the way was tiny in her last year or two and probably weighed
around six
stones if that, so she was no strain on the lift.
Until now my wife has been too upset to want to
deal with disposing of the
stairlift but the time has come to do so and so I will be dealing
with it.
The unit looks (and virtually is) brand new and I will be happy
to
demonstrate it operating perfectly. It has both remote and manual
controls
and a battery charger, the straight rail is 12 feet 9.5 inches
or 3.936
metres long with a hinged section at the bottom.
I believe that the unit supplied new would have
been around £2,800 but we
bought it for £1,770 so I think £500 is an extremely
good price it probably
should be around £800. Acorn will move it and re-install
it if required and
I think they charge around £350 with 12 months warranty.
Otherwise I will
uninstall it myself, however I would not install it. Due to the
long rail I
would be unable to deliver it as I only have a saloon car so I
think we must
say that the buyer collects after funds have cleared.
I will photograph it during the weekend and I will
be happy to email you the
pictures if required. If you need any further information please
don't
hesitate to come back to me.
Best regards

I have all of the documentation supplied with the
stairlift including our
receipt of purchase. I am very happy for you to buy this and I
will
co-operate fully with you and your shipper. My address is above
with my
telephone numbers but the stairlift of course is at my Mother-in-Law's
house
which is only about 2 or 3 kilometres away.
Please explain how you will want this to happen
including expected dates of
demonstration, removal and payment, etc.
We live close to the centre of the South Coast near
the port of Poole but
the car ferries in our area are to France. The channel tunnel
is about 2.5
hours drive away depending on traffic conditions.
Best regards

Mr.Godwill James,Jesinger Str.20, 70320 Kirchheim/Teckhope Germany
love to
hear from you soon, thanks and GOD bless.
My Regard.
Dear James,
In this time of scams, frauds and money laundering
you will understand that
I am very cautious of how this deal proceeds. Please be very clear
that no
money will leave my bank and the stairlift will not leave the
house until
the purchase money has cleared and been verified in my bank.
Also, a shipper of course will accept a UK cheque
in Holland as they would
in Germany which you will know if you live there. Western Union
is well
known as an insecure payment method which I do not like to use.
You should
tell your customer to send you the cheque and then pay me by PayPal.
